Scheduling your life around trying to conceive

~ Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.  ~

So today I was supposed to visit my ob/gyn to get a pap smear and investigate the bump on my cervix. Here is the kicker that only those actively trying to conceive will understand: Today is 13 dpo (days past ovulation) for me. And I was terrified that having someone poking around in there would disrupt my possible early pregnancy!

Can you imagine 7 years of trying to conceive and completely writing off two weeks everymonth for any dental or doctor’s visits because you dont want to be subjected to any examinations or medications that might harm your unborn child. It seems like crazy precautions seeing as I have only gotten pregnant once in all that time so I guess the odds of me being pregnant on any given month must seem pretty slim. But it is a testament to my continuing belief that I am destined to be a mother and to be pregnant and deliver beautiful healthy babies.

I believe every single month that I could be pregnant ,so for the past 7 years I have, for the most part, scheduled my life around getting pregnant and the possibility of being pregnant. So of course, I put off the pap smear. Kind of reckless for a woman who had to have a cone biopsy to remove part of her cervix after the discovery of cervical dysplasia years ago.

Cervical dysplasia refers to the appearance of abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix. While dysplasia itself does not cause health problems, it is considered to be a precancerous condition. Dysplasia sometimes progresses to an early form of cancer known as cervical carcinoma in situ, and eventually to invasive cervical cancer. And someone who has had it needs to be careful about being regularly screened. So I should not take my bump lightly. And I wont. I will just schedule my pap smear in the first half of the month. Will keep you updated on how it works out.
